The Ameer of Jama’atu Ta’awun, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, says Governor Oyetola should reconsider his decision of lockdown extension for the sake of masses. Sheikh Imran insisted that masses are dying of hunger, many businesses are affected, and therefore, such 14 days extension is not necessary.
Ameer Ta’awun has recently urged Gboyega Oyetola to put an end to the lockdown in the state. Sheikh Imran advises not to extend the lockdown in the state beyond 2 weeks to avoid economic recession and also in the interest of the state and the people.
However, the governor announced an extension of lockdown in the state though allow movements within the state between Wednesday and Thursday for people re-stock their home.
Sheikh Imran frowned at the decision taken by the government to extend the lockdown despite the cries of the people not to. The cleric says, will the government feed those who depend on their daily business to feed their family?

Sheikh Imran said: “In any decision we make, the poor masses are not considered, then we are about to make them our enemy. A government who fails to listen to the cry of her people will have herself unheard when needed most.”
“When the essence of lockdown is to curb community transmission of the coronavirus pandemic, and since the first phase, no single Osun indigene who resides in Osun has contracted the deadly virus apart from Ivory Coast returnees which they have also been reduced to 7 people, isn’t this enough to lift the ban?”
“Any decision that government takes must be logic and fact. This is not Lagos, Ogun or Abuja. This is Osun where the majority of people are not rich. They hustle to survive. Many live on daily income and without them going to the street, they can’t feed their immediate family. They hardly survive the first phase and now again, this is wickedness.”

He continued: “Why not using selective lockdown like that of Oyo state? Did Kastina state has Osun record of the COVID-19 case before the government lifted the ban? They both considered their poor people and have feelings for them.”
“This is Osun and this is Nigeria. The Europeans that asked their people to self-isolate don’t have communities that are without water, they don’t have communities without Hospitals, Europeans don’t live in face-me-I-face-you-houses. They used the method because that is what will work for them.”
“The Chinese also didn’t use social distancing and self-isolation; they quarantined their people by force because that is what will work for them at that moment. Must Osun be copycat? Would the government pay for those who the lockdown have destroyed their businesses? How would those who are only daily income live and feed their family, even during this Ramadan?”
“I urge the government to reconsider her decision in the interest of the masses. The masses are dying.” Ameer Ta’awun concluded.
