The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Adewale Akanbi, warmly welcomed Iwo-born boxer, Rasheed Idowu, popularly known as “ID Buster,” who recently clinched the Africa Light Heavyweight title in Accra, Ghana.
ID Buster triumphed over Ghanaian boxer Bastie Samir in a contested match for the Vacant UBO African Light-Heavyweight title on Saturday, April 13th, held at Decathlon Kawukudi, Accra.
ID Buster dominated the fight, ultimately knocking down Bastie Samir in the second round. Despite Samir’s inability to respond to the count and urgent medical attention, Ghanaian officials controversially declared the match a draw.

However, justice prevailed as the Universal Boxing Organisation (UBO) later overturned the initial decision, declaring Idowu Rasheed the rightful winner. The UBO belt, delivered by the Ghana Boxing Authority, was handed over to the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBofC) chairman in Lagos State on April 17th, just four days after the bout.
It took an additional 13 days for the prestigious belt to be presented to its deserving owner, Rasheed Idowu, who resides in Ibadan and trains at the Francis Aiyegbeni Boxing Club in Ibadan.
Oba Adewale Akanbi commended Idowu for his perseverance and outstanding achievement, which has brought immense pride to Iwo and Nigeria.
