Tarteelul-Quran Competition Progresses to Final Round, Recognises Iwoland Scholars

The highly anticipated Tarteelul-Quran Competition, hosted by the BalogunJorjor Initiative and Ibnof Travels and Tours, has completed its first round, showcasing the talents of 28 participants in Quranic recitation at the Iwo Central Mosque Hall. This marks a significant step toward crowning the champions of Quranic recitation.

The inaugural round, held on the 20th of March 2024 at Iwo Central Mosque Hall, saw a turnout of 28 participants showcasing their proficiency in reciting the Half of the Holy Book (Nisful-Quran).

The final round, scheduled for April 3rd, will see 10 contestants competing for prizes totalling ₦300,000, with the top three contenders vying for ₦150,000, ₦100,000, and ₦50,000 respectively.

The competition aims not only to celebrate the art of Quranic recitation but also to honour and preserve the rich Islamic heritage of the region.

In a commendable move, the BalogunJorjor Initiative announced recognition for four esteemed scholars in Iwoland for their contributions to Islamic knowledge. They include Fadheelatus-Sheik Mualiy Badrudeen of Amin Arabic Institute, Sheikh Ahmad Adedimeji Aroworeki of Shabaab Islamic Centre, Sheikh Oluko Agba Abdulbaaqi Muhammad of Islahudeen School of Arabic, and Sheikh Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq Ajiko of Centre Islamic Civilization (Markaz Thaqafa).

The final competition will be graced by guest speaker, Chief Imam Offaland and hosted by Chief Imam of Iwoland, promising an event filled with wisdom and guidance from renowned scholars and religious leaders.

Abeeb Muyiwa BalogunJorjor, the visionary convener of the competition, also reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a spectacular final round, emphasizing the importance of celebrating Quranic recitation and preserving Islamic heritage.
