In a significant development for the Iwo Local Government, the Secretariat has undergone a remarkable transformation, thanks to the tireless efforts of the new caretaker administration under the leadership of Hon. Moshood Kabiru Adekunle, fondly known as Irorun.
The caretaker chairman, alongside other local government appointees and senior civil servants, recently conducted an inspection of the secretariat’s condition, which had been deteriorating for the past three years following the #EndSARS attack.
This assessment shed light on the pressing need for extensive renovations to create a conducive environment for government operations, which had suffered due to the poor state of the facilities.
During the inspection, Hon. Kabir expressed his administration’s unwavering commitment to mobilize all stakeholders, with the approval of Governor Ademola Adeleke, to give the secretariat a much-needed facelift.
This determination led to obtaining the necessary approvals, allowing for the rehabilitation of damaged areas, the installation of new windows and doors, and a fresh coat of paint for the entire building. Additionally, new furniture was provided for some offices.
The caretaker chairman emphasized that these renovations were essential to enable the new administration to carry out its governmental functions from constitutionally recognized premises while ensuring the safety of public information.
While some areas of the building, including certain offices and stores, are yet to undergo renovation, the chairman has reassured the residents of Iwo Local Government and its officials that efforts are underway to complete the exercise as soon as resources permit.
