Dr Sulaimon Femi Abimbade, hailing from Iwo in Osun State has emerged the prize winner of the Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences 2023 Ph.D. Thesis Prize in Mathematics and Statistics.
The young Iwo-born mathematician, Dr. Sulaimon Femi Abimbade was announced the winner for his thesis titled: “Mathematical Assessment of Recurrent Malaria Dynamics with Optimal Control Measures.”
Dr. Abimbade’s educational journey started at Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), where obtained his Bachelor’s degree (B.Tech.) in Pure and Applied Mathematics with Second Class Upper Division honours. Furthering his passion, he pursued an M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics at Kwara State University, followed by a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics back at LAUTECH.

Dr Sulaimon Femi Abimbade is currently a lecturer in the Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics at LAUTECH, Ogbomosho, Oyo State.

The Nigerian Society of Physical Sciences (NSPS), in its commitment to promoting scientific research and advancements in Nigeria, announced the winners of the 2023 PhD thesis award yesterday 24th December 2023. The grand event to host and celebrate the winners will be on the 9th of January 2024.
The NSPS Best PhD Thesis Award winners will receive a cash prize and a certificate of recognition. The winners will also be invited to present their research at the NSPS annual conference.
