It’s yet another win for Iwoland again as another Iwo indigene didn’t hesitate to put the town on the global radar by emerging as the best-graduating student in the Department of Pure and Environmental Chemistry, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto.
Adewale Sefiu Damilare of the Mogbindin Obatedo compound, Iwo, Osun state graduated with a resounding CGPA of 4.78; an achievement that doesn’t seem surprising, judging by his previous achievements in the academic field as a student and a teacher.

In November 2023, he was awarded the Award of Merit “Best Male Final Year Student’ by the National Association of Osun State Students, UDUS chapter.
Additionally, in September 2023, he was awarded a certificate of achievement (Face of Chemistry), where he took the 6th position in the 3rd National Chemistry Online Quiz Competition, organized by Students Chemical Society of Nigeria, Umar Musa Yar’adua University, Katsina Chapter competing with over 250 participants from different institutions across the nation.

He was also awarded academic honour in recognition of earning a grade point average of at least 4.5 out of a possible 5.0 in an academic session. Also, he earned the academic honour of Dean’s list for the 2018/2019 academic session with a CGPA of 4.84/5.0, the 2019/2020 academic session with a CGPA of 4.75/5.0 and the 2020/2021 academic session with 4.82/5.0.
He was a writer at Gamji Press UDUS, one of the most prestigious Press boards in the university.

He was also the former academic and sanitation director at the Students Chemical Society of Nigeria, UDUS chapter as well as the former organizing secretary, of the University Scholars Forum.
He did his internship at the Nigerian Institute of Science Laboratory Technology (NISLT) as an assistant laboratory technologist. He’s well versed in Arabic and Islamic Studies and has impacted knowledge in students at different institutions of learning. He’s a product of Baptist High School, Iwo.
