His Imperial Majesty, Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRosheed Adewale Akanbi TELU I, has described Lamidi Adeyemi, the late Alaafin of Oyo, as an encyclopedia of Yoruba history, culture and traditions.

Oba AbdulRosheed Adewale Akanbi paid a condolence visit to Alaafin’s palace today to commiserate with wives, children, Oyomesi, princes, chiefs and the entire Oyo Kingdom on the death of Oba Lamidi Adeyemi Olayiwola III.

The late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi, who died at the age of 83, ruled the town for 52 years.

Oba Adewale Akanbi was well received by Hon. Akeem Adeyemi, a serving member of the house of representatives, his sisters and brothers, the Oyomesi and other princes.

Speaking on Tuesday when he paid a condolence visit to the late Alaafin’s family in Oyo, Oluwo said Oba Adeyemi was full of wisdom, courage and boldness. Noting that the Yoruba race has lost a lover of peace.

“Baba was an encyclopedia of Yoruba history, culture and traditions. He was full of wisdom, courage and boldness. I pray for the repose of his blessed soul. I also pray for the immediate and extended families to God to give them the courage and fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss.” Oluwo said.

While commiserating, Oba Adewale Akanbi also encouraged the Oyomesi to ensure capable hands who will sustain the tempo of courage, boldness, wittiness and traditional aurora of Alaafin is appointed as a successor.

Oluwo was accompanied by Prof. Lai Olurode, Oloja of Agberire, Ologburo of Ogburo, Oloke of Obamoro and some other Dignitaries.
