The palace of the Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Hammed Adekunle Makama Oyelude received prominent guests home and abroad for the Owu 29th Convention. A celebration that brings sons and daughters of the soil to come together to share a great moment together.

The 29th Owu National Convention at the Kuta Palace Ground, Kuta in Ayedire Local Government Area of Osun State held on Saturday, December 5, 2020. Among dignitaries at the events are Former President, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Ooni of Ife who was duly represented, Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Former SSG to Osun State, Alhaji Fatai Akinbade, Hon Yinusa Amobi, Chiefs, Kings and dignitaries across the nation.

In his word, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo said the Owu nation is not only working for the development of owu sons and daughters but also Nigeria as a country. He also said although Owu indigenes at home and abroad gather every year to enhance the unity among themselves, however, its objective is to ensure a better country, where individuals could thrive.

Obasanjo said: “Owu nation is working for Nigeria’s development. Yes part of our objective is to enhance unity among all the Owu sons and daughters but while we are doing that, we are also helping Government in nation building because government alone it. I prevail on you all to work for the unity of Owu nation and Nigeria.”

Also, Governor Oyetola congratulated the Olowu of Owu Kuta, Oba Adekunle Makama Oyelude, other royal fathers, elders and the entire people of Owu on the success of the convention. He further said that the convention provides the needed opportunity for collective reasoning, objective appraisal and critical assessment of the goals of the town for sustainable development.

Governor Oyetola: “I was pleased to attend the 29th Royal Union of Owu people national convention, which held yesterday at the Olowu of Owu Kuta’s palace. I salute the good people of Owu for sustaining the vision of their forebears for 29 years, to discuss and implement issues of personal and institutional development.

“It was a great pleasure to share in the joy of Owu people as they come together under a common umbrella to bask in the euphoria of love, unity and cooperation to encourage, motivate and assist themselves to achieve great heights in all areas of human endeavour.”

The Olowu-Kuta has been described by many people as a true catalyst of development. Very humble and generous monarch with an unquantifiable generosity. It is believed other kings and chiefs around him will emulate him for the development of the Yoruba nation as a whole.
