With the recent developments, it’s crystal clear that the Osun State government needs to conduct a Local Government election. This is essential for the third tier of government to receive the monthly allocations from the Federal Government.

Recent Update:

The Supreme Court has ruled that it is illegal for Governors to dissolve democratically elected Local Governments. It has also mandated that the Federal Government must withhold allocations to Local Governments governed by unelected officials appointed by the Governor.

What does this mean?

It simply means that the state government must conduct Local Government Area (LGA) elections. This is a significant step towards ensuring that our LGAs are run by officials elected by the people, which can lead to better governance and development.
