The residents of a house razed down by fire in Ile Aba in Iwo have blamed emergency responders for the loss of properties.
Earlier today it was reported that, a two wings apartment house got gutted down by fire in a compound known as Aba’s compound. The compound is a few meters from the Customary Court building beside the Iwo city palace.
It was reported that no life was lost but properties worth millions of naira were destroyed in the fire outbreak.
The reason for the fire outbreak is unclear as at the point of this report and it was suspected to have been somewhat an electrical malfunction because the fire broke out just few minutes after the PHCN supplied electricity.
According to the accounts of eyewitnesses, the firefighters were called just almost immediately the fire broke out and the residents couldn’t contain it but it took the firefighters more than three hours before they arrived which was reported to be a useless arrival because the house was already buried in its own ashes.
In response to the nonchalant attitude to the primary assignment of the firefighters the residents booed them away.
It was also reported that two Islamic holy books, the holy Qur’an were found after the fire had razed down the entire building.
One of the residents, Olarenwaju Abdulrahman, said the Iwo fire service couldn’t get to the scene immediately! After calling, they insisted that no water in their tank and no fuel until they contacted Abuja headquarter for fire service and Abuja headquarter also contact osogbo! Before the osogbo fire service could arrive, people have already quenched the fire!
This is the second time that the Iwo Firefighters will fail the people of Iwoland in 2021. The loss of properties could be averted if they have not failed to do their primary assignements.
