It is no more news that the long-awaiting wish to have a Federal institution in Iwoland has been achieved. The news that Iwo Local Government finally got the approval to have a Federal College of Education made many Iwo sons and daughters happy.
In a statement conveyed by the Federal Ministry of Education to Osun Governor, Gboyega Oyetola, says Iwo Local Government has been approved as one of the locations for the Federal College of Education as approved by President Muhammad Buhari. Buhari approved the establishment of six (6) new Colleges of Education across the six geo-political zones in Nigeria.
It was a breaking news worthy to be celebrated because it was a struggle to win. Osun State has 12 parliamentarians at the 9th Assembly. 3 Senators at the Red Chambers and 9 House of Representatives at the Green Chamber. 8 out of these 12 parliamentarians sponsored a bill to get the Federal College of Education in their domain.

However, Senator Adelere Oriolowo and Hon Yinusa Amobi were resilient, committed to bringing the glory to Iwoland. Kudos to both lawmakers at their representation at the National Assembly has brought one of the things Iwo people have been agitating for many years.

As contained in the letter sent to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Federal College of Education, Iwo will commence academic activities in October 2020.
The Federal Ministry of Education says it will sure that his Technical Team cooperates with the State Officials to ensure adequate arrangement for the commencement of academic activities by October 2020.
No doubt, the presence of the institution will boost the economy of the land. Federal College of Education in Iwo will enhance literacy rate, bring employment opportunities and promotes civic participation.
