A social-cultural community association in Osun state, ‘Oluponna Home & Diaspora Forum‘ has rolled out efforts to eradicate poverty and boost economic stability in her community.

In a landmark event and second edition of its Economic Development and Empowerment program, the association gave out soft loans to 53 identified active poor women and retail business owners in the community while there had been 50 beneficiaries of this same scheme in the first edition held last year.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the association, Mr. Sabitu Mutiu said the scheme was borne out of the intention to reduce poverty to the barest minimum in the community and equally boost the economic stability and social welfare of the town.

The Chairman Economic Development & Empowerment committee of the association, Prince Ayo Oyedokun identified four thematic reasons while he initiated the scheme as a sub-committee Chairman of the association, he said it was born out of efforts to eradicate poverty in the town, facilitating empowerment for economic sustainability, ensuring a rural agricultural development and ultimately, adding values to life.

He said the projection of the scheme is to empower 400 women before the year ends. He advised beneficiaries to maximize the opportunity given to them through the loan.

One of the beneficiaries of the first edition of the program, Mrs. Adedoyin applauded the Association for coming to the aid of small business owners in the community as she said the financial support received has greatly helped to grow the business of those who had benefited in the past and advise the new beneficiaries to make good use of the financial support for their businesses.

Barr Abimbola Ige a legal practitioner and legal adviser to the National Association of Osun State students (NAOSS), appreciated the Association for coming up with such an initiative that will boost the economic development of the community and assured that he will continue to be part of any initiative that will ensure rapid economic growth for the community.

Professor Dele Adigun of Kings University, Ode -omu, equally enjoins the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and also implores all sons and daughters of Oluponna to support the organization financially in order to do more.

The Monarch of the town, Oba Emmanuel Oyebamiji (Fadare 2) was ably represented at the program by Prince Wale Mosobalaje, other dignitaries include, Mr. Eniola Odeniyi, son of the late Agbaakin of Iwoland, Arch Tunji Ogunrinu, Mr. Femi Okanola, fmr Executive Secretary Aiyedire South LCDA among other dignitaries at the event.
