After a rigorous and painstaking exercise, Prince (Alhaji) Mukaila Abidogun has emerged as the traditional Oba elect of Awuje Kingdom, Iwo.
During the process, seven qualified princes contested for the royal crown as revealed by the kingmakers and chiefs.
The last Alawuje, Oba Ajagbe Oladosu Akinkawon aged 92, joined his ancestors on the 9th of September 2021. Ever since then, the seat has been without an occupant due to who fits the capt to succeed him.

Oba Ajagbe Oladosu Akinkawon (May his soul rest in perfect peace) was crowned as the Alawuje of the Awuje Community on Sunday, April 30, 2017, by Oluwo of Iwoland; Oba Adewale Akanbi.
However, respite came on Wednesday; 7th of September 2022 when the kingmakers of the community elected Prince (Alhaji) Mukaila Abidogun, as Alawuje of Awuje kingdom.
One of the princes, prince Aremu Abiola, who also jostled for the post congratulated the Alawuje-elect immediately after the process.

Prince Aremu Abiola said: “It is as a result of this and in the spirit of sportsmanship that I congratulate the Oba-Elect, Prince (Alhaji) Mukaila Abidogun on his emergence as the New Alawuje of Awuje Kingdom.”
“I pray to God to grant him the needed wisdom, knowledge, candour and every other thing that it takes to succeed in this new responsibility. May the crown glue long on your head.” Prince Aremu Abiola concluded.
The Alawuje of Awuje kingdom-elect extended a hand of fellowship to other contestants to the throne.
Prince (Alhaji) Mukaila Abidogun said: “I also use this unique opportunity to embrace my fellow brothers and co-contestants with hands of fellowship as we lift this kingdom together to enviable heights in the spirit of cooperation and oneness as one indivisible happy family.”
We also congratulate the Alawuje-elect. We pray that may his reign be long and bring peace and abundant development to the community.
