Quiz & Essay Competition: Raheem Mojeed Gifts Cash, Pays WAEC Fees for Top 3 Students in Iwo, Ayedire, Ola-Oluwa

It will be recalled that the competition, which was the brainchild of Mr. Raheem Mojeed Adewale, was hosted by the Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU), Federation of Ayedire Students’ Union (FASU) and National Association of Ola-Oluwa Students (NAOS) in December 2020.

What started at each Local Government in Iwo Federal Constituency ended on a glamorous note yesterday as the winners and runners-up were awarded scholarships for their West African Examination Council.

Conducted simultaneously in Iwo Local Government, Ayedire Local Government and Ola-Oluwa Local Government, the competition had 24 schools and 38 participants and three best students were produced in each of the Local Governments.

At the finals and presentation of prizes yesterday, the 6th day of February 2021, the sponsor awarded the sum of Twenty-Five Thousand Naira (N25,000.00) to each of the nine students, who are currently in SS3 class, for the registration of their coming WAEC.

Iwo Local Government

  1. Sarafadeen Fridous – 1st Position (Anwarul-Islam Grammar School, Iwo).
  2. Orotoye Opeyemi Miracle – 2nd Position (Baptist High School, Iwo)
  3. Sarafadeen Maryam – 3rd position (Ishahudeen High School, Iwo)

Ayedire Local Government

  1. Adeyemi Adedoyin – 1st Position (Luther King’s College, Ileogbo)
  2. Olajide Abdulrohim – 2nd Position (Community High School, Ileogbo)
  3. Omoniyi oluwajoba – 3rd Position (Oluponna High School, Oluponna)

Ola-Oluwa Local Government

  1. Ajao Kaosarat (Ilupeju Grammar School, Ilemowu)
  2. Oyediran Malik (Community Grammar School, Bode-Osi)
  3. Ajayi Peter (Ilupeju Grammar School, Ilemowu).

To further encourage the students, other participants were given the sum of Five Thousand Naira (N5,000.00) each. Additionally, exercise books were distributed to all the participants for their academic benefits.

Some of the royal fathers, dignitaries along with several notable teachers were Oba Moshood Alamu Oparonke (Onisara of Feesu), Oba Abdulazeez Olatunbosun Ilufemiloye (Akire of Ikire-Ile), Barrister S.A. Oyediran, Mr. Balogun Amobi (Zonal Chairman, All Nigeria Conference of Principals of Senior Secondary Schools, Osun State Chapter), traditional chiefs and many other key figures in the society.

In their separate remarks, they described the gesture as commendable, timely and properly fit as it is coming at a time economic meltdown is taking serious tolls on everybody, particularly parents. They, therefore, commended the sponsor for this huge assistance and charged him to do more.

The beneficiaries were as well admonished to be studious and seize the advantage to renew their determination to advance further in their education so as to be productive in society and add to the skill set needed by our country.

On his part, the sponsor (Raheem Mojeed) explained the motive behind the initiative as his own way of empowering the less-privileged in Iwoland. He explained further that his assessment of the state of affairs in Iwoland prompted him to think of where to come in to correct some things and change the ugly narrative for the better.

Beaming with joy and happiness on their faces, the students appreciated the sponsor and wished him greater success.

The teachers who accompanied the students assured the sponsor that due care will be taken to ensure that the beneficiaries use the money appropriately for WAEC registration. The Committee of the Raheem Mojeed quiz and competition, therefore, promised to do a follow-up in that regard.

While thanking all the invited dignitaries and pressmen, the Chairman of the Planning Committee, Mr. Abidogun Olajide called on other well-to-do members of Iwoland to emulate this kind of initiative to give back to our society.
