Just like yesterday when Akinkunmi Iromini was elected as FILSU President for the 2020 administration. The election was described as one of the best and transparent in the history of the union.
The general election of the Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) that brought in Senator Iromini as a president was conducted on 31st December 2019 at the Palace of Oluwo. The presidential seat was contested by three experienced young men; Akinkunmi Ismail Iromini, Hammed Ridwan Akinkunmi and Adewale Olalekan Ridwan.
Akinkunmi Iromini polled 248 votes to emerge winner of the election. Hammed Ridwan ADMIN of LAUTECH came second with 178 votes while Adewale Olalekan known as Sir Leacon came third with 174 votes.

With that, Akinkunmi Iromini took the baton of the leadership from Abdullahi Afees popularly called As-Sulton who was the outgoing president of FILSU 2019. Sentiments apart, the administration can boast of achievements made during its tenure. Many achievements were recorded and projects were executed.
Before being elected as the President of the union, Iromini held different FILSU positions among them are;
- The 2017 Financial Secretary of FILSU national headquarters led by Com. Lakasera.
- Contributed largely to achieve loads of visible achievement mainly the FILSU Secretariat and lots of others.
- 2 terms FILSU ILA chapter PRO that made the chapter witnessed the best and fast information dissemination.

As the popular saying goes; “soldiers go, soldiers come barrack no dey go anywhere”. The executive leadership of FILSU 2020 led by president Akinkunmi Iromini left a footprint as they bow out of office. On January 10, 2021 Senator Iromini handed over the Baton of power to As-Saheed.
Akinkunmi Iromini popularly known as SENATOR IROMINI tagged his presidential ambition as HOPE 2020. Did Iromini bring hope to FILSU National Headquarters during his administration in 2020?

- Constructed a block of two shops constructed in front of the Union’s Secretariat and named after late Com. Ishola Hajji.
- Acquired new 11 books published by Dr. Oluremi Atanda.
- Hosted a Quiz and Essay competition across Secondary school in Iwo, sponsor by Com Raheem Mojeed Adewale.
- Inter-Chapter Quiz competition.
- Launched the FILSU TV
- Publication of The Pathfinder Magazine.
- Hajji’s Memorial e-Essay writing.
- Free summer class for secondary school students.
- Intervened in all community-related matters being one of the major stakeholders e.g crazy electricity bills, SARS harassment and host of others
- A proper relationship between the union and the Alumni and holding of Alumni Night to strengthen the relationship between the union and the Alumni.
- Produced a new Mace by the Students’ Legislative Council (SLC).
- Visitation of FILSU Legislative arm led by Rt Hon As-Shaeed to Osun State house of Assembly to witness their parliamentary session.
- Renewal of FILSU website domain
- Grand style celebration of FILSU at 68.
- Sensitization on COVID-19.
- Distributed Covid-19 and Ramadan packages.
- Online Ramadan Tafseer
- Ramadan Quiz competition
- Online sensitization on different diseases
- Telecasting of Different programs
- Distribution of souvenirs.
- Celebration of International Women’s Day: Project Fifty.
- 7-day community services

Without a doubt, the administration of Senator Iromini has achieved a feat. The achievements and execution of projects with little resources is a sign that the FILSU 2020 Executive Members did a great job.
We congratulate them all and wish them success on their journey. We wish their successor being led by president Saheed Adepoju a successful journey he pilots the affair of the students’ union.
