Iwo Muslim Community has kicked against building of Church in Iwo Local Government secretariat, Araromi Iwo. The decision was made today, Thursday, 3rd June, 2021 during a meeting with Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi, the Oluwo of Iwoland.
Earlier today, at the Local Government Secretariat, Iwo, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Iwo chapter was seen laying a church foundation before some Muslim youth came to stop them for not following the due process.
The Christians were saying the land had been allocated to them since 1999 but the finding shows that the land has been revoked from them.

According to the council manager, Alhaji Balogun T.A, he said he was not even aware of laying a church foundation block today.
He said: “ I was at Dele Yes Sir in Osogbo when a call was made to inform me of what is happening.
“The day I held a meeting with CAN, I told them I have to consult stakeholders in the town because I was not aware of any document. I said when I finish my consultation; I would call to brief them. But I was surprised when I heard they have started laying a foundation block without my permission.”

At the meeting of Iwo Muslim community with Oluwo, it was made known that the Christian body would be called upon along with the Muslims to come and proof the authenticity of the document it claims.
“It is true they have the constitutional right just like the Muslims, but, would they be coming here during the weekend and leave their various churches for their services? So, it is a waste of Iwoland property. The land will still be used for other developmental projects and not the church that would serve no purpose” said the community.
