The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), the leading advocate for Islamic and Muslim rights, is set to bestow a prestigious award called “Defender of The Faithful” upon Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba AbdulRosheed Adewale Akanbi.
The award is in recognition of his pivotal role as an outspoken traditional ruler who boldly and openly identifies with Islam in Yorubaland.
MURIC acknowledges Oluwo’s significant contribution to the spread of Islam and his unwavering support for Muslims in the Yorubaland region.

In recognition of his role as a prominent Muslim traditional ruler who fearlessly represents and stands by Islam, Oluwo has been deemed highly deserving of the “Defender of The Faithful” award.
According to a letter of notification signed by the Chairman Planning Committee Dr, Busari Jamiu Muhammed and the Secretary of the Planning Committee Mrs Kafilat Oladimeji, the “Defender of the Faithful” award is in recognition of the pivotal role Oluwo has been playing in the propagation of Islam and openly identifying with Muslims in Yorubaland.

In his reaction to the letter, Oluwo expressed his gratitude to MURIC for considering him worthy of this honour, acknowledging that it has inspired him to further propagate the oneness of Olodumare (Allah).
Today 9th of July 2023, MURIC will pay tribute to Oluwo of Iwoland; His Imperial Majesty, Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi as the exemplary “Defender of The Faithful” in Yorubaland.
The award ceremony will take place on Sunday, 9th of July, 2023 at Combo Hall LTV 8 in Ikeja, Lagos, and the event will start at 10:00 AM.
