Iwo Deserves Better Federal Attention, Oluwo Reiterates

Oluwo of Iwoland, HIM Oba (Dr.) Abdulrosheed Adewale Akanbi, has described Iwo as bastion of progressive governance in South Western states, saying the land deserves better federal presence.

Appealing to president Muhammed Buhari led administration for consideration, Oluwo reiterated his hometown is not getting deserving attention in situation of federal institutions and public agencies.

He stated this today at a day pre-census stakeholders meetings organized by the National Population Census (NPC) held at Iwo City Hall, Iwo, Osun State.

Oluwo equally beseeched the populace to cooperate with anchor agency in 2021 when new population census will be conducted.

Oba Akanbi said the strength in population in modern time is unquantifiable, seeking more attention for the exercise to merit significant dividends of democracy in the land.

He noted Iwo is lagging because there is no federal presence that could invite rapid growth and development, calling on government to compensate the political strength of Iwo as bastion of progressive governance in South west.

Oluwo implored officials of NPC to cooperate with the community in conducting an accurate census. He further disclosed Iwo as the 4th largest city in Nigeria as at 1931.

He said the town needs federal presence to regain her strength in the comity of first class cities.

It could be recalled that Oluwo is currently leading a strong force agitating for the situation of one of the proposed Federal Colleges of Education in Iwo, the seat of Osun West Senatorial District.
