The Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) at the national level is set to celebrate her existence in a grand style as the union clocks 68 years. The current leadership of the union has unveiled plans to make the 68th anniversary bigger and unique.
Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) is a body founded to represent the students and make their voices heard. It is a body saddled with the responsibility of students’ welfare. However, the union also serves as the voice of the voiceless, demands good governance and communicates the needs of students to the appropriate quarters.
SHORT HISTORY OF FILSU
Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) was established in 1952 but formally formed in 1954. The union was at first named Federation of Iwo & District Union of Students (FIDUS). The Pioneer President of the union was Pa I.A Adisa, while the pioneer Secretary was Dr. Oluremi Atanda.

Every December of the year a new leadership is elected to administer the affairs of the union for 12 months. The current administration led by Ismail Akinkunmi Iromini (President) and other executive members have outlined plans to celebrate the 68th anniversary of the union in a unique and grand style.
The event will feature prominent, icons, elites, and highly respected individuals in society from Iwoland. At the 68th Anniversary of FILSU, Iwoland living legends like Baba Oluremi Atanda, Prof Ladipupo, Dr. Ben Adigun and others will also be celebrated and honoured.
Some of the agenda of FILSU 68th Anniversary;
- Commissioning of the Union’s shop.
- Launching of the Pathfinder Magazine
- The unveiling of the new FILSU SLC Mace
Professor Kayode Alao of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife will be the guest lecturer of the day. The prominent professor will discuss the topic “Student dynamism and effective political participation in the context of Iwoland development.” Also, Comrade Raheem Mojeed Adewale will be doing justice to the topic “New generation of youth political system and future of Nigeria.”
While Comrade Kehinde Ayantunji will dissect the topic “Youth/Students as the power bank for the future growth.” The Royal Host will be the popular and amazing Oluwo of Iwoland Oba Adewale Akanbi Telu 1.
