The Leadership of Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) has assured the people of Iwoland that the exploitation, crazy bills and inappropriate meter reading would stop.
Residents of Iwoland have been complaining about ridiculous utility bills and different cases of exploitation by the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) in the city. The leadership of Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) frowns at such unethical behaviour from IBEDC Iwo branch.
The FILSU President, Ismail Akinkunmi Iromini, Rt. Hon. Adepoju Saheed Adewale (Speaker of the Union), and Hon.Justice (Prince) Abdulmujeeb Abioye Tadese (Chief Justice of the Union) paid a visit to the IBEDC Manager in Iwo to speak on behalf of all Iwo residents.

However, the Manager and other staff of IBEDC admitted have seen several cases of inappropriate meter reading that have resulted to burden on the bills of several residents of Iwoland. IBEDC confessed that the estimated bills residents of Iwoland pay is not the actual meter reading or electricity they consume.
Therefore, the Leadership of FILSU urged IBEDC to resolve the abnormality as soon as possible. The Union also wants the people of Iwoland to exercise patience as everything will be resolved.

The leadership of the union said;
“It was admitted by the Manager and other staff of the Company that truly there have been several cases of inappropriate meter reading that have resulted to burden on the bills of several residents of Iwoland.”
“The estimated bill shows great increase as oppose to the actual reading of the meters and thus the readings do not commensurate with the readings on the face of the bill that people have been charged in the last 3 months in Iwoland.”

“The Leadership of the IBEDC however appealed to the entire people of Iwoland through the Leadership of the Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union that they should exercise patience and thus normalcy shall return to the estimated bills and readings on their meters latest by October.”
“They apologized for the supposed inconveniences the people might have been caused and claimed the situation has been completely beyond them so far but adequate adjustments will be made with minimum delay.”
“We urge the people of Iwoland to exercise patience while the necessary adjustments are made by the IBEDC. We as Students’ Body will regularly follow up to ensure that the needful is done as soon as possible.” FILSU concluded.
