Oluwo Congratulates ‘Iwoland-born Weightlifter’ Adijat Olarinoye for winning Gold Medal

Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba Abdulrosheed Akanbi has congratulated Adijat Adenike Olarinoye for winning Nigeria’s first medal in the category of women’s 55kg Weightlifting event at the Common Wealth Games 2022, lifting a combined total of 203kg.

Adijat Adenike Olarinoye who hailed from Ile-Ogbo (Olode’s compound), Osun State represented Nigeria as a Weightlifter and won a Gold Medal in the women’s 55kg event at the 2022 World Weightlifting Championships held in Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.

Nigeria’s Adijat Adenike Olarinoye lifted a combined total of 203kg, a GAMES’ RECORD to win the women’s 55kg Weightlifting event. Adijat came under pressure, but she survived to clinch GOLD!

Oluwo, in a release issued on Sunday, July 31, 2022, joined millions of Nigerians in celebrating the outstanding feat by one of his subjects, who made TWO RECORDS in ten minutes and stunned the athletics world with her superlative and stellar performance.

Oba Adewale Akanbi thanked the Weightlifting gold medal for making the Nigerian national anthem resonate again from the international podium, leaving the nation with excitement.

Oluwo, however, believess this milestone achieved by Adijat will inspire the upcoming generations of Nigerian athletes to achieve spectacular success.
