You Are a Man of Honour - Christian Youth Wing Lauds Ameer Taawun

The Youth Wing Christian Association of Nigeria (YOWICAN) has described Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, the founder and National President of Jama’at Taawunil Muslimeen as a man of honour.

This was made known yesterday, 21st of June 2021 during a courtesy visit to his house, Daarul Hijrah. The visit was to discuss issues regarding the Chapel building in Iwo local government secretariat, Araromi Iwo.

The YOWICAN led by Segun Makinde, a young and vibrant journalist, expressed its dissatisfaction with how the issue is being portrayed as religious. He said the Christian request for the Chapel building was not aimed at competing with Muslims but to have a place they can go during the working hours to pray and praise their God.

Muslim Community Kicks Against Church Building in Iwo Local Government Secretariat

It could be recalled that the Iwo Muslim Community kicked against the building of a Church in Iwo Local Government secretariat, Araromi Iwo. Ameer Ta’awun, Sheikh Daood, made it known that the thinking of every Muslim in Iwo on the issue is unique.

Sheikh Daood said: “Nobody wants to see either Church or chapel. It is normal because Iwo is predominantly Muslims. The same thing will happen if Muslims ask for such where Christians are dominant.”

“Let’s just exercise patience, it requires time. We should not ever think Muslims are not tolerant. What is happening is natural and you (Christians) should not see it as if you are being hated.” Ameer Taawun concluded.

The Christian Youth Wing then thanked Ameer Taawun and requested to be having discussions with him on matters relating to Iwo development.

On that fatefully Thursday, 3rd of June, 2021 at the Local Government Secretariat, Iwo, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Iwo chapter was seen laying a church foundation before some Muslim youth came to stop them for not following the due process.

The Christians were said the land had been allocated to them since 1999 but the finding shows that the land has been revoked from them.
