The Iwo Youth Concerned and Initiative has called on all residents, business owners, artisans, institutions and electricity consumers across Iwoland to pay their July electricity bills in full once they are issued, as part of a collective effort to secure a lasting solution to the town’s prolonged power supply challenges.
According to a memorandum released by the group following a meeting with the newly transferred Business Manager of the IBEDC Ede Business Hub, the Technical Engineer confirmed that the Odo-Ori feeder is currently overloaded. The proposed migration of the affected transformers to the 33kV line was identified as the quickest and most practical solution to improve electricity supply in Iwo.

The Business Manager reportedly assured the delegation that if Iwo residents demonstrate a significant increase in revenue through prompt payment of electricity bills between July and October, he would champion the approval process to justify the community’s request for the migration of the 11 transformers on the Odo-Ori line to the 33kV feeder.
In response, the Iwo Youth Concerned and Initiative pledged to mobilise the entire community to ensure improved bill payment, stressing that this collective commitment is essential to achieving the long-awaited electricity upgrade.
The group, however, reminded IBEDC that the people of Iwo have endured years of unfulfilled promises and expressed hope that the new management would fulfil its commitments. They also urged customers to make payments only through recognised IBEDC offices or approved payment channels and to insist on official receipts for every payment.
As the July electricity bills are expected, residents are encouraged to play their part by paying promptly and in full, believing that a united effort could finally pave the way for a more reliable and stable electricity supply in Iwoland.
