“In 1931, Iwo was known as the 5th lagest city in Nigeria and since then what have we gained? How could the 5th largest city then never benefited from the Federal government? It is indeed sadden”.

This was the statement made by Sheikh Yahqub Abdul Baaqi Muhammad, the Waziri of Yorubaland during a peaceful rally, staged today in appealing to the Federal Government to site the proposed Federal College in Iwo.

The rally, led by the Waziri himself was organised by islahudeen Arabic schools in early hours of Tuesday, 14th January, 2020 with placard saying, “Iwo deserves the Federal College

According to him, “Iwo hasn’t benefited any tertiary institution, be it federal or state since time immemorial. How can one of the largest city in Nigeria be left alone like this? Urgent help is needed.”

“We appeal to the Federal government not to look down on Iwo. Nobody deserves this College better than Iwo” Waziri appealed.
