The leaders of Jama’at Ta’awunil Muslimeen across the South West, Nigeria urge the South West Imams and Alfas to join hands with Oluwo, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi on his struggle to build an Empire of Islam in the region and see the steps being taken as development for Islam.
It has never happened in the history of Islam to place Islamic government or a Muslim king who identifies with Islam under any Imams. Yoruba Muslims have been managing the situation because we have never seen any King in Yorubaland with such identity.

Going by history, we would like to bring it to your notice that a Muslim king or Islamic government is the one empowered to appoint and install persons whom he deemed fit to hold position of Islamic titles and offices.
The Emir of Ilorin Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari has made same appointment and will continue to do so because the Islamic structures in the North have not been totally demolished.
He appoints Imams and gives other titles. This is evident in the fact that king who believes Islam is a determining factor in their ruling has the power to assume jurisdiction of appointing and installing well deserved Islamic scholar, who has comprehensive Islamic knowledge about Islam in all areas of life to hold position of Mufti or Wazeer to foster a rapid development of Islam.

The fact that Islam cannot be divorce from the political setting of Obaship system of Iwoland, evident in the undisputed historical fact that the fist mosque built to serve the religious purpose of the Yoruba people was erected in Iwo in 1655. So, the Oluwo of Iwoland and Emir of Yorubaland is building Islamic structures which for long, we have forgotten and abandoned.
We will also like to inform our fathers that the position of Imams and Alfas, as a registered association is restricted only to Imams and some Alfas. It does not cover Association of Arabic schools, Muslim organizations, Islamic centres and some other institutions and Imams.
In South West today, the notable and respected Imams, Alfas and Islamic scholars have joined this struggle and supported the appointment of Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan as the Grand Mufti of Yorubaland.
We will appeal to our fathers and Imams to join hands with Oluwo, and Emir of Yorubaland, Oba Abdul Rasheed Adewale Akanbi in changing the history of Yoruba Muslims. Yoruba Muslims can’t remain the same forever. This ongoing struggle is heavenly divine and can’t be stopped.
