The general election of the Federation of Iwoland Students’ Union (FILSU) takes another dimension as one of the presidential aspirants, Alatise Ibrahim, heads to court to seek fresh election and to restrict Adebayo AbdulKabeer Adegoke politically known as ‘Boutique‘ from parading himself as the 2022 FILSU president-elect.
The FILSU general election held on December 31st, 2021 at Oluwo palace was conducted for all offices. However, many reactions have trailed the outcomes of the election because there were some issues and disparities regarding the total number of votes cast and used ballot papers, most particularly the presidential candidates’ votes.

In his reaction, Alatise Ibrahim said a FILSU election is supposed to be impartial, neutral and fair is being marred with irregularities and manipulations. Alatise Ibrahim approaches the high court to seek a fresh election and bar Adebayo AbdulKabeer Adegoke politically known as ‘Boutique’ as a result of the following reasons;
1- That for the purpose of the election, 500 ballot papers were printed by the electoral commission chairmaned by Oyewole Akinloye John, 259 voters were accredited and 241 unused papers.
2- That upon counting of votes, 258 votes were recorded for all candidates of the CEC while a total number of 307 votes were counted and recorded for the office of the President which were from the same ballot papers as that of other offices.
3- That further 15 votes were removed because they cast with blue or black pen as against the green pen the ISEC resolved and agreed to use.

Though AbdulKabeer Adegoke politically known as ‘Boutique’ was declared as the winner and president-elect by by the chairman of FILSU Electoral Chairman.

Alatise Ibrahim released the following statement after approaching the court to annul the election:
“I have the opinion that small issues/problems be attended to before they become uncontrollable. If we should overlook this public deceit and make it slide, we may have our self to blame in not too long time.
“I’m doing this not based on my direct involvement but on the fact of what legacy we are setting for the incoming and what the shameful acceptance of today might be in years to come.”
As acceptable as political interests are, involving acts that would else be detrimental and be of surge to one’s personal dignity/integrity should be avoided. This process and many more to come, will not only be an eye-opener but also help in restoring sanity into our society.” He concluded.
