The honourable member representing Iwo Federal Constituency, Alhaji Yinusa Amobi has revealed today that the establishment of Federal College of Education Iwo has passed first reading.
Iwo land despite being the central focus in Osun West lacks federal institution. It could be recalled that many people have been yearning for this federal institution for years. Obafemi Awolowo University has Federal University located in Ile-Ife, Federal Polytechnic Ede in Ede City and the only remaining Federal tertiary institution in Osun State is Federal College of Education.
Many have pushed for this and the bill has passed first reading. Could Hon Amobi could finally make it a reality?
We should remember that this same bill for an establishment of Federal College of Education passed first reading in 2018 but sponsored by Hon Omidiran from Gbongan. The Bill reads;
“Federal College of Education Gbongan (Establishment) Bill, 2018 (HB. 1376) sponsored by; (Hon. Ayo Omidiran) has already passed the first reading in the house.”
In any state, the federal government has mandated to have three institutions which could be located among the cities in the state.
In a statement release on his social media account, Honorable Yinusa Amobi said;
Through your patience, concern, support and and prayers, I break the jinx.
The First Reading of the ESTABLISHMENT OF FEDERAL COLLEGE OF EDUCATION IWO was read on the floor of the House of Reps. as the the House resume plenary today 29th of October, 2019.
By the instruction of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Clerk of the House read the Short Title of the Bill on the floor of the House as the First Reading which reads:
”Federal College of Education Iwo, Osun State (Establishment) Bill, 2019 (HB. 398) (Hon. Amobi Yinusa Akintola) – First Reading”. He concluded.
We hope the awaiting federal college of education which Iwo land people have longed for becomes a reality.
