The Chief Lecturer of the Academy of Islamic Propagation (ACADIP), Alhaji Yusuf Olatunde Adepoju, was in Iwo today to seal the deal of new Fortress University that would be located in Iwo.
The University project was initially planned to be cited in Ilobu, however, the Ilobu town failed to welcome it. In one of the interviews granted by the ACAPID Founder, Alhaji Yusuf Adepoju, he said: “Sadly, the University project is no more visible in our town any longer. We tried all our best possible, but, Ilobu rejected the offer.”
One of the reasons is that as claimed by the Palace of Ilobu is that it has no knowledge about the request for the land for the University.

The proposed Fortress University was Ab initio planned to be sited in Iporin in Kwara State. However, this could not be done as a result of issues that came from the Memorandum of understanding. One of the issues is; the university land will not be for free and it will be a lease for 25 years which negates the guidelines of the Nigerian University Commission (NUC).
After the Iporin failed bid, Alh Yusuf Adepoju revealed that there were many offers to which where the Fortress University be sited. Among them Ilobu, Modakeke, Iwo, Ila-Orangun, Kishi and Ikonsin. The ACAPID members agreed to site the proposed university to Ikonsin. After many attempts to ensure all amenities needed at Ikonsin but it was aborted because of cases on the land given to ACADIP.
The ACADIP consulted the Iwo community for the Fortress University where they were welcomed with open arms. The deal was sealed on Sunday, December 13, 2020 that Iwo will be the home of the Fortress University.
