The Oluwo of Iwoland, Oba (Dr.) AbdulRasheed Adewale Akanbi, has described the 2024 Iwo Day celebration as one of the most vibrant and impactful in recent history. The event, which brought together dignitaries, community leaders, and Iwo sons and daughters, was marked by joyful festivities, generous donations, and unity.
The four compounds of the year;
– Olumodan
– Gbegunde
– Asipa
– Emulu
They all put up remarkable performances, with Olumodan earning special recognition for donating ₦10 million towards the community’s development.

Among the prominent guests were Senator Nurudeen Jackson Ademola Adeleke, represented by Mallam Olawale Rasheed, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, and Senator Lere Oyewumi.
Oluwo also extended his appreciation to royal fathers, including the Akire of Ikire Ile and the Olowu of Telemu, as well as notable figures such as Dr. Akin Ogunbiyi and Prof. Akanmu Adebayo, for their support and involvement in making the day a resounding success.

Oba Adewale Akanbi acknowledged the remarkable work of the Iwo Board of Trustees, led by Prof. Lai Olurode, and the Iwo Day Planning Committee, chaired by Olori Iyawo Lamuye.
He also commended the free medical services provided by the Olaosebikans and expressed gratitude to various religious and social organisations, including the Chief Imam of Iwoland and the Christian Association of Nigeria, for their role in fostering unity and progress.

Reiterating his vision for Iwoland, Oluwo promised to continue championing development initiatives while maintaining his stance against idolatry and land grabbing.
He called on all Iwo sons and daughters to remain united and committed to the progress of their homeland.
As Iwo Day 2024 concluded on a high note, His Imperial Majesty, Oba AbdulRosheed Adewale Akanbi prayed for more fruitful and productive celebrations in the future, emphasising unity, peace, and progress for Iwoland.
